An institutional approach to computational social creativity

چکیده
Elinor Ostrom’s Nobel Memorial Prize-winning work on “the analysis of economic governance, especially the commons” scaffolds an argument for an institutional approach to computational social creativity. Several Ostrom-inspired “creativity design principles” are explored and exemplified to illustrate the computational and institutional structures that are employed in current and potential computational creativity

Against Individual Creativity
In this paper I discuss reasons for viewing human creativity more as a social process than as an individual act. These reasons include the subjectivity of evaluation in attributing creativity, the potentially arbitrary relationship between individuals and creativity at the cultural level, the importance of the capacity for preserving cultural information over and above the capacity to innovate,...
متن کاملCreative Social Systems
In this paper we present an approach based on the view that creativity is essentially determined by social evaluation and that any computational modelling of creativity needs to account for this. Directions for modelling creative social systems are suggested based on results of computational social simulations of creativity and innovation.
متن کاملArtificial Creative Systems: Completing the Creative Cycle
Human creativity is personally, socially and culturally situated: creative individuals work within environments rich in personal experiences, social relationships and cultural knowledge. Computational models of creative processes typically neglect some or all of these aspects of human creativity. How can we hope to capture this richness in computational models of creativity? This paper introduc...
متن کاملComputational Social Creativity
This article reviews the development of computational models of creativity where social interactions are central. We refer to this area as computational social creativity. Its context is described, including the broader study of creativity, the computational modeling of other social phenomena, and computational models of individual creativity. Computational modeling has been applied to a number...
متن کاملCurious Whispers: An Embodied Artificial Creative System
Creativity, whether or not it is computational, doesn’t occur in a vacuum, it is a situated, embodied activity that is connected with cultural, social, personal and physical contexts. Artificial creative systems are computational models that attempt to capture personal, social and cultural aspects of human creativity. The physical embodiment of artificial creative systems presents significant c...
